Attendance Matters at Wilsona School District
Every Day Counts—Every Student Matters
At Wilsona School District, we believe that regular school attendance is essential for student success. When students attend school consistently, they build strong academic foundations, positive relationships, and healthy habits that set the stage for a bright future.
Why Attendance is Important:
- Students who attend school regularly are more likely to read at grade level, graduate on time, and succeed long-term.
- Missing just two days a month adds up to 18+ days a year, which can negatively affect learning and progress.
- Good attendance builds responsibility, resilience, and school engagement.
Our Commitment:
WSD is committed to partnering with families to reduce barriers to attendance. We monitor attendance closely and reach out with support—not punishment—when students miss too many days. We believe in prevention, early intervention, and positive reinforcement.
How We Support Students:
- Attendance Incentives & Recognition
- Check-ins & Counseling for Students with Frequent Absences
- Home Visits & Family Outreach
- Transportation & Resource Referrals for Families in Need
- Student Success Teams (SSTs) to Problem Solve Attendance Issues
What You Can Do:
- Make sure your child attends school on time every day, unless they are truly ill.
- Schedule medical appointments and family trips outside of school hours when possible.
- Reach out to your child’s school for help if you are facing challenges—we’re here to support you!
